UC Santa Cruz
Student Opportunities
The Center for Agroecology’s facilities and programs are available to all UC Santa Cruz undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to participating in class work based at our facilities, students can take part in our ongoing research projects, participate in an internship, design projects in collaboration with associated faculty and staff members, and apply funding to support independent projects.

Internships
We offer for-credit internships throughout each academic year. Interns learn about farming and the food system while working hands-on in the field (or in the cafe, produce stand, or through research!) Center for Agroecology internships are open to all enrolled students and are run through the UCSC Environmental Studies Department’s Internship Office.

Agroecology courses
UC Santa Cruz students can enroll in agroecology classes, major in agroecology, and participate in the residential Agroecology Field Quarter during the summer. Many of these courses have a hands-on component on the campus farm, gardens, farm stands, and cafes, allowing students to learn by doing.

Employment opportunities
Our student employees help conduct research, grow, harvest, and distribute produce for our farm stands and food pantries, prepare and serve meals to fellow students, and with outreach and administrative support. Learn about our employment opportunities for UC Santa Cruz students and how to apply for job openings.

Fellowships and funding opportunities
Learn about fellowships and other opportunities for current UC Santa Cruz students to undertake projects that advance a more sustainable, equitable campus food system or participate in agroecology internships, technical training, career coaching, and research opportunities.
